Lots of people talk about spring cleaning and how spring is the time to clean up our lives after the “hibernation” during the winter. However, spring is my least favorite season of the year! Summer is great because it is daylight a lot longer, I love being outside in the sunshine and on the ocean. Winter is great because I love skiing with my family. I love a good snowstorm when the snow makes the trees look magical. But fall could be my favorite season. I love the trees changing color (and I’m truly grateful to live in New England with such amazing foliage). I love the start back to school and getting into a fresh routine. For me, the fall is the time when I feel rejuvenated to start the projects that I was putting off for so long.
That’s why we are doing a fall special for our Wills in a Week program! This program is available year-round, but we will be running a promotion this fall to help incentivize people to get their plan done! If you are like me and you feel refreshed so that you can tackle new projects, and getting your Will done is one of them, please be on the lookout for when the special will run.
Who is Wills in a Week good for? This is a great opportunity for couples or individuals who have children, and they want a simple will that leaves everything to their spouse (if married), and then to their kids. There is no fancy planning, such as disinheriting people, specific gifts, or other language in the documents specific to your family. But Wills in a Week does include a revocable trust, instructions on funding your trust and updating your beneficiaries to avoid probate, a Will to name guardians for minor children, and other documents such as powers of attorney, health care proxies, and HIPAA releases. It’s a great program to help get you to take the first step to securing your family’s future, no matter what happens. And we all know that life throws us unexpected roadblocks, so it’s always better to be prepared, even if your plans aren’t perfect.
Wills in a Week is the closest version of a ‘do it yourself’ online Will, but you get the expertise of an actual attorney, and you get the opportunity to speak with an attorney and ask questions. All the documents included in Wills in a Week can be changed in the future, nothing is set in stone. That is why this is a great stepping stone to get your plan done. Having something in place is better than nothing when it comes to protecting your family and your assets. Please forward this email to a friend or family member who needs to get their Will done, but just hasn’t made the appointment yet. We can help them get their plan done quickly and comprehensively. The feeling of weight lifting off our client’s shoulders is worth the inconvenience of getting it done!
