Pro Bono Program

Everyone, and we mean everyone, should seek out reliable estate planning answers and services. We created this program to help those who typically can’t afford a private consultation with an attorney, so they can prepare properly to avoid probate.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]

How it works

Step 1: Contact our office to request an eligibility form

Step 2: Pending eligibility and our capacity to offer this service, we’ll book you a ½ hour private meeting with an attorney at our offices.

Step 3: 2 weeks after that meeting, we’ll schedule a document review and signing meeting. You’ll leave the signing meeting with your original documents.

What’s included:

• Valid legal documents: revocable trust, deed into trust, certificate of trust, declaration of homestead for a trust, Will, durable power of attorney, health care proxy, HIPAA release, living will
• ½ hr recommendation meeting
• 1 hr document review and signing meeting
• Binder with all original documents
• Instructions for assets (there is some homework you’ll have to do to complete your plan!)
• Limit of 2 emails with questions for attorney or staff

What’s not included:

• Filing fees at the registry of deeds (this will be $300-$400) — only applies to people who own their home
• Stamps, Fedex, copy charges, or any other incidental expenses that are not legal fees for
• Drafting estate planning documents (none anticipated)
• Changes to the substance of the documents
• Nursing home protection, special needs planning, estate tax planning, or additional work outside the scope of basic probate avoidance
• Work on any assets outside of Massachusetts

Eligibility

Eligibility is based on income limits of 300% of the federal poverty level guideline for a couple (no increase for families with multiple children). Eligibility is also based on our capacity to complete the work.
